They join forces UdeG and CRIT Occidente with a wrestling show “To the ring for them”
Wrestling and the university community will once again join forces in organizing the sixth edition of "To the ring for them ," an activity that seeks to boost fundraising for the children of CRIT Occidente, which serves about three thousand children with some disability.
Next September 27, the Arena Coliseum, venue for this event organized jointly by the World Wrestling Council (CMLL), the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG) and the CRIT Occidente will host approximately 5 spectators who will enjoy the show that wrestlers and fighters provide their services free of charge.
The general coordinator of University Services (CGSU) , Professor Juan Carlos Guerrero Fausto, said that this initiative allows the university to connect with one of the noblest causes in society, such as the work carried out by the CRIT Occidente, and recalled that the university community participates constantly in this center through social service and professional internships.
“This event reminds us that sport can be much more than a spectacle; it can become an opportunity to come together, show solidarity, and transform lives. In this sixth edition, we step back into the ring, together with CRIT Occidente and the Teletón Foundation, with the purpose of contributing to the rehabilitation and well-being of children and adolescents.”
The coordinator of Student Services (CSE) , Jonathan Martínez Chavira, said that the university community has been eagerly awaiting this event, which reveals their enthusiasm and level of participation , and that this coordination has voluntarily raised a sum of 20 pesos to donate to the cause.
“Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us to pause this event for a couple of years, but we resumed it. Now, year after year, the university itself and the community in general join in. For some months now, people have been asking us when we are going to hold the wrestling event .”
He acknowledged the work of the wrestlers who will participate, as they do so voluntarily to support the services provided to the children and teenagers at the CRIT Occidente rehabilitation center. "Their participation, their demonstration of holds, aerial maneuvers, and all the entertainment they provide for the people is completely free, and for that we must thank them," he reiterated.
Tickets for this event will be free wristbands that can be obtained in person at the offices of both coordinating bodies (CGSE and CGSU): Pedro Moreno Street 1029, from 10:00 a.m. to 16:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Constancio Hernández Alvirde Street 145, both in the Americana neighborhood. Wristbands can also be obtained through the social media accounts of both coordinating bodies, as well as at the CRIT Occidente rehabilitation center, located at Copal Street 4575, in the Cerro de Santa María neighborhood, south of Guadalajara. The wrestling event will take place on September 27th at the Arena Coliseo; donations can be made upon entry to the arena after presenting the wristband.
The experienced wrestler El Satánico, representing the National Coliseum League of Guadalajara, said that those who attend will witness a show of quality and professionalism from the wrestlers.
“I’ve always said it and I’ll say it again, my colleagues and I go into the ring to fight, we get out and go home; the children of CRIT, on the other hand, continue fighting day after day, and this is precisely what motivates the World Wrestling Council at the Coliseo de Occidente arena to participate,” he mentioned.
Joanna Alejandra Carrillo, Director of Strategic Alliances and Fundraising at CRIT, thanked the university community for joining the cause and reminded everyone that the official CRIT collection boxes have a QR code for making digital donations, and that the funds raised will be added to the Teletón 2026 goal .
“We’re talking about more than 3 children each year who need support, rehabilitation, and a life plan. All of us, who are without disabilities, can look out for those who do need it. Six years sounds easy, but it takes perseverance, and I also want to thank our Rector General, Karla Planter, and tell her that at CRIT Occidente and the Teletón Foundation, we are very grateful for this support,” he stated.
The general manager of the Coliseo Arena expressed his gratitude for the work done by university students performing their social service , as well as those completing professional internships at the CRIT (Children's Rehabilitation Center ). "It fills us with pride that they turn their attention to our cause every year and choose us again to carry out this project. It makes us feel very loved, supported, and cared for," he said.
Wrestler Dulce Kitty said that participating “is a great joy, that they take us into account for this contribution. We do it with all our hearts. For me, it's the second time.”
For her part, wrestler Lady Danger called on the university community and society at large not only to support this event, but to do so throughout the year. “It’s very important to support these girls and boys all year round so they can have more opportunities.”
