Lines of knowledge generation and application
- Molecular bases and nutritional genomics of human nutrition.

General objective. To train human resources of excellence and with a high academic level in the field of translational nutrition, capable of developing original and relevant research in the disciplines of the area, which allows the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the impact of innovative solutions to priority problems of the food-nutrition process in the life cycle, with a multidisciplinary approach, based on humanistic and ethical professional values.
Specific objectives
- To foster the skills necessary for the development and management of research projects in the area of nutrition, enabling the generation, transfer and application of theoretical, methodological or technological knowledge in an innovative way, contributing to the solution of needs in the area of nutrition.
- To promote skills for the interpretation and dissemination of the results of projects developed in the area of nutrition in different contexts (general population, academics, researchers or businesspeople), through various media, in Spanish and English.
- To promote skills for human resource training activities, outreach, linkage (with companies and academic and/or governmental institutions) and resolution of issues related to intellectual property, in the areas of food and nutrition.
- To motivate the implementation of a proactive, humanistic and ethical-professional work philosophy to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams with a translational approach and generate improvements in the area of nutrition and health.
Admission profile
- Having evidence of previous experience in nutrition research, such as theses, articles, proof of collaboration with a research group, presentations at conferences, participation in summer research programs, etc.
- Theoretical knowledge of the area of nutrition, both in health and disease.
- Basic theoretical and methodological knowledge in the area of nutrition research.
- Basic knowledge of the English language.
- Interest in humanistic and ethical values in professional practice, as well as a high level of commitment.
- Ability to develop a research proposal in written form.
- Ability to present and defend orally a topic related to nutrition.
Graduate profile. The graduate will be able to:
- To conduct research to generate, transfer and apply theoretical, methodological or technological knowledge, in an innovative way, in the area of nutrition.
- Design, implement, monitor and evaluate innovative research projects that contribute to solving needs in the area of nutrition.
- Develop training activities in human resources, outreach and engagement in the areas of food and nutrition, for the benefit of people's health.

- It recognizes and resolves issues related to intellectual property for technological development and innovation. It also fosters collaboration with other academic institutions, businesses, and/or government entities.

- Implements a humanistic and ethical-professional work philosophy to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and addresses food-nutritional problems based on specific needs.
- Take initiative in developing research projects to generate improvements in the area of nutrition and health, with a translational approach.
Admission requirements . In addition to those stipulated by university regulations, the following apply:
- Bachelor's degree or graduation certificate in nutrition, medicine, pharmaceutical chemistry and biology, or related degree; the Academic Board will consider the contents of the program taken by the applicant and their professional experience.
- Original official certificate that proves a minimum average of eighty.
- Curriculum vitae with evidence of your academic and research career.
- Letter of intent explaining the reasons for taking the program.
- Letter from the applicant indicating their commitment to full-time dedication to the postgraduate program, as well as to completing it on time and in the proper manner.
- Demonstrate, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, proficiency in the English language, at least at level B1 (B2 desirable), or equivalent (examples of exams: TOEFL ITP, TOEIC, IELTS, etc.).
- Pass the basic research knowledge exam, proposed by the Academic Board.
- Pass the nutrition knowledge exam determined by the Academic Board.
- Conduct an interview with at least two members of the Academic Board (preferably composed of full-time professors from the program).
- Submit a preliminary work plan related to the program's knowledge generation lines.
- Presentation on a topic related to nutrition, assigned and evaluated by the Selection Committee.
- Those established by the call for applications.
Graduation requirements. In addition to those established by current university regulations, the following are required:
- Having completed the doctoral program, passing with a minimum average grade of 80 each school cycle.
- Cover all the credits in the curriculum.
- To present, defend and approve the undergraduate thesis resulting from original research.
- Present proof of no outstanding debt issued by the School Control Coordination of the University Center for Health Sciences.

Program duration : The PhD in Translational Nutrition Sciences lasts 10 (ten) school cycles, which will be counted from the time of your registration.
When the student has previous postgraduate studies and credits are validated, he/she may complete the Doctorate in a minimum of 6 (six) school cycles.
